This two-day event is the annual conference of the International Development and Public Policy Alliance (IDPPA), a network of nine graduate development and public policy schools from major emerging economies. It will examine different models of development, attempting to provide a multi-faceted definition of this key concept that is so central to the practice of governance and public policy in today’s world.
The focus of deliberations will be on the dialectical relationship of the idea (or model) of development with the practice of governance and public policy: (I) how governance and public policy defines and shapes models or ideas of development in a specific politico-economic context, and (II) how a particular model or idea of development influences the practice of governance and public policy. Such a relationship may play out within a given administrative and/or functional boundary – such as nation, sub-national region, city, or local community, or may be found imbedded across multiple geographical scales.
There will be four panels:
Papers will be presented by experts from nine countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, and South Africa.
The full program can be found here.
The language of the conference is English and no translation will be provided.
Registration is required and can be done online here.
